UP: Teen girl dies after being raped, accused's house razed
A rape-murder accused's house was demolished in Fatehpur on Tuesday amid the presence of police officials. The action was taken after a 17-year-old girl died after she was allegedly raped by the accused.

The demolition was carried out after the teenage girl’s relatives along with people from their village and Hindu organization, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) members demanded the accused’s house be razed after the girl died during treatment at a hospital.
GIRL DIES IN HOSPITAL
The 17-year-old girl and her family attended a wedding in a village in Fatehpur on June 22. However, she went missing from the wedding hall at about 11 pm, according to the girl’s father.
Her relatives searched for her for hours and her father later approached the police to file a missing complaint. The next day, June 23, the girl was found bleeding in an under-construction house near the wedding venue.
The girl who was allegedly raped was admitted to a hospital and remained there for three days, succumbing to her injuries on Monday.
RELATIVES DEMAND ‘BULLDOZER’ ACTION
After the death of the girl, her relatives and members of VHP asked the police to raze the house of the accused. On Monday, the house of the man accused of raping and murdering the girl was demolished by a bulldozer.
The police said that they had arrested one of the four people who were involved in the incident.
LOVE JIHAD CLAIM
One of the VHP leaders alleged that this was a case of ‘love jihad’. He said that the accused was a Muslim, pretending to be a Hindu and had lured the girl into his “trap”, by calling her for a meeting and then raping her.
Love jihad is a term used by right-wing activists to denote the relationship between a Muslim man and a non-Muslim woman where the Muslim partner wishes to convert the non-Muslim.
