7 Kerala medical students seek Hijab alternative in operation theatres
Seven Muslim students of the government medical college in Thiruvananthapuram sought permission from the principal to allow them to wear long sleeve scrub jackets and surgical hoods inside the operation theatre.

Seeking an alternative to hijab, at least seven Muslim students of the government medical college in Thiruvananthapuram asked the college principal to allow them to wear long sleeve scrub jackets and surgical hoods inside the operation theatre.
The college principal said that he would call a meeting of surgeons and the infection control team to discuss the matter, adding that the team would decide on the request made by the students.
The students, who made the demand, said they had to cover their heads all the time as part of their religious beliefs, and it was not possible to wear hijabs inside the operation theatres.
